Assistant Manager in Training Job Duties and Expectations

You're an up-and-coming restaurant expert! This position is meant to prepare someone with supervisory experience or some management experience for the next step: being a manager at Ian's Pizza. You'll rotate between 2-3 Milwaukee restaurants and our Catering and Offsites Department to support the managers in the overall daily operations with the goal of promotion into a non-rotating manager position within 6-12 months. You will learn and participate in managing all store and catering operations, including but not limited to product ordering, vendor relationships, implementation of systems or processes, staff training, and staffing schedules and reviews.

Assistant Manager in Training Requirements

• 1+ years of experience as a supervisor or manager in the food and beverage industry is required.
• Experience with staff training, enforcing food quality and cleanliness standards, and driving sales.
• Great communication, motivation, time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, especially in stressful or fast-paced situations.
• Cross-trained and regularly able to perform all entry-level positions (Front of House, Cook, Delivery) within 6 months.
• Must complete a food safety certification course within 4 months.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods. To bend, crouch, and lift to 20-50 lbs. To use ovens, pizza cutters, and other equipment of the business.
• English language proficiency is required for this position.
• Reliable transportation to and from work at the 3 store locations and off-site catering events.
• Must be 18+ to apply. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can apply for the Front of House at our Story Hill location (5300 W Bluemound Road) or for a Seasonal Summer Catering and Offsites position. All other positions/locations require you to be 18+ years of age.

Assistant Manager in Training Scheduling

This position is salaried for 45 hours per week: 20-30 hours in operations/on-shift, about 5-10 hours on people development and training, and about 5-10 hours on administration and meetings.

9-5 is a Dolly Parton song, not a job at Ian's Pizza. We expect managers to have availability for late-night shifts once a week and for rotating weekends. Note, that opening shifts typically start 1-2 hours before opening time, and closing shifts typically end 1-2 hours after closing time. As a leader in the restaurant, you will work with the leadership team to be available for emergencies and help find coverage or cover shifts as needed.

Locations

This position does require travel between locations and ability to work at all three locations and our catering events. Our stores are located on the East Side (2035 E North Ave), Downtown (146 E Juneau Ave), and Story Hill (5300 W Bluemound Road).
