Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resources department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate employee files, records, and documentation.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new employees.
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist and ensures smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; Periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Provides administrative support to ensure efficient office operations. 
  • Answers phone calls and directs callers.
  • Assists in recruitment, schedules interviews, reference checks, and DMV authorization.
  • Complete termination process for corpsmember.
  • Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests. 
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies and anticipates supply needs; ensures prompt ordering and receipt of supplies. Assist other departments with their purchase needs.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting failures, calling for repairs, and monitoring equipment operation.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related (essential).
  • Two years of experience as an HR assistant (essential).
  • Exposure to labor law and employment equity regulations.
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills.
  • Complete understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical conditions include working in an office setting, constant keyboarding, handling, other repetitive hand motions, and constant sitting. Light lifting may be required sporadically.

Company Description
San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC) provides professional job training and educational development opportunities for individuals 18‐26 years of age through various environmentally focused, community service‐based programs. In coordination with job training and educational attainment, SFCC offers wrap-around services, such as housing assistance and mental health and wellness referrals, to reduce social and financial barriers and uplift low‐income and disadvantaged communities in San Francisco. SFCC focuses on two job‐training pathways: natural resources management and recycling. Natural resources management projects include habitat restoration, fire fuel reduction, plant care and farming, landscaping maintenance, and trail building. Recycling projects include the collection of and education around recycling beverage containers, e‐waste, waste tires, and used oil.
