Come join Oakes Auto Group, a leading new car franchise dealership group in the KC Metro. We are seeking a Senior Accountant who is looking for growth and opportunity in a newly created position!
We are seeking a detail-oriented senior accountant to lead and execute critical accounting functions within our organization. The senior accountant will play a pivotal role in preparing meticulous financial reports, conducting thorough account reconciliations, meticulously maintaining the general ledger, managing intercompany allocations, facilitating audit preparations, and fulfilling other vital accounting tasks as required such as state sales tax filings.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must possess a robust understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
- Produce error-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries for prepaid, payroll, and fixed asset depreciation and amortization, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure recorded transactions are appropriate.
- Analyze financial information and report on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
- Support monthly P&L analysis performed by Controller including analyzing profitability.
- Book state sales tax filings.
- Continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process.
- Produce weekly schedule review reports for upper management.
- Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary.
- Collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, controls and provide support on special requests when necessary.
- Crosstrain to understand every seat in the dealership accounting office.
- Partake in various Company/ Accounting wide initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be a self-motivated person who can multi-task with accuracy and work in a structured team environment while paying STRONG attention to detail.
- The position requires an advanced skill level in Excel, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize workloads and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent communication, writing, and oral skills are required. Must have the ability to perform detailed work with numerical data rapidly and accurately.
- Cross-training is required in all functions.
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- 3-5 years of related Accounting experience, including deep knowledge of GAAP
- State sales tax filings
- Strong research, analytical and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail is required
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and tasks
- Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to work with little supervision and perform under pressure
- Reliable and professional attitude
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
