Human Resources Internship
- Part-Time
While primarily a Human Resources internship, this is a shared internship with Finance. This intern will assist the Human Resources Manager in several facets of the Human Resources field, as well as assisting the Finance department with AP/AR from time to time. This is a part-time, paid internship, averaging about 20 hours/wk. This position has the potential to change from a seasonal internship to a continued part-time job. Possible areas covered in this internship include:
• Onboarding – Starting with posting jobs and reviewing applications and going through the employee’s first week.
• Offboarding – Reviewing the disciplinary process, handling documentation, sending termination notices, and responding to unemployment claims.
• Data Management – Reviewing employee files, gathering missing information, handling I-9 forms, and much more.
• Compliance – Assist with DOT driver files to ensure compliance with the FMCSA, review company handbooks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and prepare documentation for EEO filings
• Payroll – Process payroll, enter payroll into accounting software, allocating payroll to correct job costing classes, monthly worker’s comp entries/payments, acquiring tax IDs for new jurisdictions as needed, etc.
• Benefits – Help new employees get enrolled in benefit plans, reconcile monthly bills with employee deductions, answer employee questions regarding employee benefits
• Compensation – Help in reviewing/revising job descriptions, assist with compensation analysis, use comp analysis to set salary bands, ensure we’re meeting all required pay transparency requirements
• Misc. – Assist with scanning employee documents into their e-file to reduce paper storage, work on employee recognition program, other general office duties
• AP/AR – Assist finance with accounts payable and accounts receivable
