The Catering Manager at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) oversees the planning, preparation, execution, and breakdown associated with all programming and events that require space and/or catering. The catering team provides service for a diverse range of clientele – including, but not limited to, corporate groups, community-based organizations, students, military, weddings, and consumers of public Whitewater events. Successful execution of each event will require effective communication and collaboration with Food & Beverage, Events, and other operational departments onsite. The Catering Manager is supported by a team of Event Staff. This is a full-time, on-site, benefits eligible position that reports to the Operations Manager of Events.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the kitchen to create precise orders for food and supplies.
- Forecast staffing needs and set staffing plans leaving room for adjustment as necessary.
- Manage P&L of business unit.
- Achieve quality and operational goals set by the Director of Food & Beverage.
- Maintain a strong presence onsite during key festivals and large group events.
- Ensure standards for food quality, food presentation, and venue appearance are met.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide each customer with a positive, engaging experience.
- Develop a thorough understanding of all requirements and expectations for upcoming events.
- Ensure constant and effective interdepartmental communication.
- Maintain and develop vendor relationships as needed.
- Foster and develop a high-functioning team of hospitality professionals.
- Establish and implement performance expectations and evaluation techniques.
Requirements
- Management level experience in a high-volume catering atmosphere.
- Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Excellent service skills, professional demeanor
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space.
- Must be able to bend, stand, lean, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in all weather and environmental conditions.
- Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.
- All positions at Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.

The Food and Beverage Department delivers exceptional, chef-driven culinary service to Whitewater guests. Whitewater is home to diverse and ever-evolving food and beverage outlets, including full-service and fast casual dining options. In addition, the Food and Beverage Department oversees catering for private events and Adventure Dining.
