Lead Meter Technician

Position Purpose:
This job position normally assigns work for the department and performs the work of a Meter Technician 1st Class with the additional responsibility of overseeing jobs assigned by the Supervisor, Electric Metering and/or Company management. Perform job functions within assigned department, including, but not limited to: Metering systems construction, operation, and maintenance. Maintains records and reports relating to assigned functions. This position falls under the Department of Transportation drug testing requirements.

Project Oversight and Coordination: Provides oversight and coordination of personnel, equipment and material required to accomplish project associated with electrical facilities.
- Perform the duties of a Meter Mechanic 1st Class.
- Oversee projects and personnel in the construction, maintenance and repair of electric metering equipment.
- Visit construction sites to evaluate customer metering needs and company requirements.
- Size Current Transformers (CT’s) and Potential Transformers (PT’s) for commercial customers.
- Scope residential and commercial jobs for proper meter form, class and voltage.
- Set up metering equipment, instructions, parts and meters for installations.
- Works to meet customer satisfaction, proper installations and ultimately successful completion of projects.
- Prepares and ensures the timely and accurate completion of project as-built designs and records.
- Ensures projects are completed according to company standards.
- Properly cares for and maintains company equipment such as; assigned vehicle, tools, material, etc., including timely completion of records associated with such equipment.
- Coordinate daily work and direct metering related projects that have been assigned to the meter department. Maintain job and inventory records of metering equipment.
- Be proficient with meter reading systems for all meters, including MV90, FCS, CIS and AMI for daily operational checks. Be proficient with the MDS work order system.

Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or company acknowledged equivalent.
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Possess and maintain a valid license based on the requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and/or the State where the employee resides.
- Must maintain the gas Operator Qualification (O.Q.) requirements associated with the position
- Know the company Safety Rules and Company Policies and procedures. Become familiar with the Company’s Tariff and the DPU rules and regulations for electric and gas service.
- Be available to respond to overtime work, trouble calls, and system emergencies as requested. Reside within a specified geographical area as defined by the collective bargaining agreement.
- To qualify for this position the incumbent must have attained Meter Technician 1st Class status and proficiently performs all phases of meter work as required.
- Will be drug tested under the PHMSA drug pool
THIS NOTICE IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE XI OF OUR AGREEMENT WITH LOCAL UNION #B340, BROTHERHOOD OF UTILITY WORKERS OF NEW ENGLAND, DATED June 1, 2022.
HOURS: Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
WAGE: Ultimate rate - $49.56 per hour, for a 40 hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with UWUA Agreement, Local #B340.
