About the Role: As a Meter Services Technician, you will assist the Lead Meter Technician in performing a wide range of field-based duties, including: Performing water meter change-outs and setting permit meters Conducting leak detection on services and water mains Inspecting and testing backflow prevention devices Performing flow tests on water services Troubleshooting electro-mechanical and radio-frequency water meters Making field repairs such as stripping small wires, installing burial kits, and replacing meters, register dials, and transmitters Working in underground vaults and accessing below-ground meters and valves Interacting with the public while exercising sound judgment and following established policies and procedures Physical & Work Environment Requirements: Bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, and climbing ladders Working outdoors in inclement weather and confined spaces This position is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA Your Career Path: This position provides a strong entry point into utility operations and technical services

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Valid Driver's License High School Diploma/GED NC AWWA Meter Services Technician Certification ("OR" the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date) 1+ years of experience changing and troubleshooting water meters, and/or a combination of related maintenance field experience (e.g., plumbing, pipe layers, electrical, utilities etc.) Experience using handheld electronic devices to read and/or trouble shoot water, gas or electric meters Experience using required tools to perform the job duties such as wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchet/socket and small power tools Preferred Qualifications: NC AWWA Meter Services Technician Certification Experience working with Enquesta Billing Software Experience working with Sensus Field Logic application or similar meter installation and service application. Meter Viewer or other utility asset locating software Experience with routing software to aid in service address locating
