Immediate Openings – 2 Positions Available

Position Overview

We are seeking reliable Utility Meter Readers to join our utility operations team. This position is responsible for reading and recording water meter usage, inspecting meters for proper operation, and assisting with basic meter-related service work.

Previous meter reading experience is not required. Candidates with experience in customer service, delivery driving, landscaping, maintenance, warehouse operations, construction, utilities, or other outdoor work environments are encouraged to apply.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking stable, full-time employment with the opportunity to gain experience in utility operations and water distribution systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to walk assigned routes throughout the day
  • Strong attention to detail and dependability
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with local streets and neighborhoods
  • Experience with water meters, plumbing, utility work, or maintenance
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents and customers

Responsibilities

  • Read water meters on assigned routes and accurately record readings
  • Report inaccessible, skipped, damaged, or malfunctioning meters
  • Visually inspect meters to ensure proper operation
  • Assist with identifying leaks and damaged water lines
  • Turn water service on and off as required
  • Assist with installation of meters and meter boxes
  • Explain unusual meter readings to customers when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records and complete assigned documentation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
