Job Description

Job Summary:

The Global Safety Manager will implement environmental health and safety programs and policies to eliminate the risk of occupational injury and illness, and environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment. This person will oversee the training and implementation of a Global Health and Safety Management System to support all safety and health professionals assigned in various locations. A successful candidate will be self-motivated and have strong problem solving, analytic, accounting, and interpersonal skills.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide leadership and direction to ensure successful delivery, implementation, and refinement of both regional and site EHS policies, procedures, and best management practices.

• Oversee and coordinate the Global Safety Council (GSC) to align efforts across all the SBU’s.

• SME for all EHS activities within the operations and guide operations in the achievement of compliance with global, national, state, local company EHS policies, standards, and best management practices. Ensure that plans are consistent with overall Global EHS strategies and corporate mandates.

• Assist Global Leadership Team with the leadership, development, and coordination of regional EHS Managers and Sr, EHS Specialists; set and communicate goals, strategic direction, and priorities to ensure success.

• Interface with and influence operations to ensure the proper analysis, documentation, communication, and implementation of corrective action items for all incidents of loss (i.e., injury, illness, liability, property and near miss). When necessary, assume the leadership role in an investigation of serious or otherwise significant incidents of loss.

• Collect, record, analyze and communicate key performance metrics and KPI’s on a regular basis (i.e., daily, monthly, quarterly, and annually) to effectively facilitate the advancement of the organization’s EHS initiatives. Drive continuous improvement of the EHS performance for all locations.

• OSHA and country specific compliance in addition to corporate EHS policies and required training.

• Lead and participate in EHS gap assessments and audits to ensure legislative compliance and system conformance.

• Monitor all injury and illness incidents and assist with the organization’s risk management and safety COE (Center of Excellence) efforts to effectively reduce costs and other associated negative outcomes (recordability, restricted and/or lost workday classifications), while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement.

• Ensure full compliance to and implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System.

• Ensure environmental compliance with all facility; Air Permits, EPCRA Tier II Chemical Toxic Release requirements, Hazardous and Universal Waste management / reporting, Storm Water permit management / reporting, Emergency Right to Know Act requirements.

• Guide pollution prevention and waste minimization activities in reducing the overall cost in facility waste management.

• Lead by demonstrating the required behaviors, attitudes, and mindset to further develop the organization's EHS vision and culture.

• Ensure development of direct report, regional EHS staff.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in addition to required safety and environmental certifications.

• 10+ years’ health and safety experience, in a manufacturing environment.

• Able to adjust to changing priorities - ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

• The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to analyze a situation quickly and accurately and arrive at an effective fact-based decision or solution.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross functional teams.

• Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development—strong work ethic.

 

Travel Requirements: 50-60% of travel required, includes domestic and international travel.

Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in the use of technology including thorough understanding of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
