Job Summary

· Engineered Equipment Service Manager is responsible for planning and directing the operations of the EE Service Center, including scheduling, job cost estimating, equipment failure analysis and the repair of other industrial products. Involved in all aspects of the coordination and processing of repair orders from receipt to shipment.

· Development of costs and pricing for repair products and services.

· Communicates directly with the customers on issues involving order entry, pricing and establishing delivery date.

· Reviews customer orders for accuracy, technical information and customer specific requirements

· Edits/updates Bills of Materials needed to process orders.

· Establishes priorities to ensure attention to customer satisfaction and department objectives.

· Participates in strategic and business planning session to set service center objectives.

· Responsible for Service Center budget requests and spending.

· Manages, provides direction to and sets performance standards for employees at various levels.


Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with upper management on productivity improvement to set business objectives that support Company and Service Center strategic and business plans.
  • Directs and coordinates through subordinates the efficient and effective operations of shop. Enforces policies and procedures. Establishes work priorities. Delegates work. Appraises employee performance. Facilitates employee development efforts.
  • Supervises the operation of the repair center. Will aid in equipment repair and failure analysis as required. Determines staff, material, and supplies required to meet schedules. Monitors and controls production schedules.
  • Manages and controls operation budget. Authorizes expenditures of Company monies. Initiates justification for the approval of equipment and machinery purchases. Achieves specific financial targets. Controls specific financial measures, such as, gross margins, gross profit and net profit. Investigates and implements various process improvements and cost-reduction efforts.
  • Meets production deadlines. Establishes production and quality control standards. Makes recommendations regarding improved operations.
  • Performs field support functions when required including troubleshooting and equipment measurements, as well as face to face customer business meetings.
  • Monitors work conditions and methods to ensure safe operations. Operates in compliance, through Federal and other regulations, in areas including environment, safety, health and transportation. Promotes environmentally-safe work practices. Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clear, informal communications. Interprets and communicates policies, procedures and other vital information to employees. Prepare reports and make formal presentations to top management.


Complexity of Duties

  • Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Provides guidance to subordinate staff based on organizational and divisional goals and Company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizational/divisional objectives and/or schedules.
  • Manages staff members to help meet established schedules and resolve technical/operational problems. Sets performance standards and manages employee performance.
  • Manages and controls budget. Submits and administers budget requests.
  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and funds and potentially jeopardize future business activity.
  • Contacts are frequent inter-organizational managers, field sales managers, and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications.

Education and/or Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in industrial manufacturing and/or rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of inventory principles and computerized business systems.
  • Ability to work under frequently changing priorities and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally may be required to stoop, bend, climb or crawl into dangerous or confined areas in a plant environment.

· Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

· While performing the duties of the job the employee works near moving mechanical parts.

· Exposure to high levels of noise and temperature in the work environment.
