Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced HR manager to run all aspects of human resources practices for our expanding business. Our 40 or so employees, agency staff and contractors are based across the US, the UK and Europe with the biggest contingent in California. As well as helping formalize HR practices and processes at this growing company, there will be a particular focus on recruitment as we expand and add more talent to our team.
Key Responsibilities
● Work from home
● Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
● Manage the recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring the acquisition of top talent and a smooth onboarding experience.
● Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
● Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
● Collaborate with department heads to address HR-related needs and proactively provide guidance on HR matters.
● Manage and execute HR projects such as employee engagement initiatives, training programs, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
● Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement in HR policies and procedures.
● Provide coaching and guidance to management on HR best practices and employee relations matters.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
● The ability to be proactive and effective whilst working from home.
● Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
● Proven work experience as an HR Manager or similar role, preferably in California and with call center staff.
● The aptitude and experience to assimilate the relevant HR standards and legislation of different territories, in particular various US States and the UK.
● Strong understanding of HR best practices, including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
● Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and MS Office.
● Strong organizational and leadership skills.
● Industry experience: insurance industry experience is preferred.
● Experience working in a rapidly growing start-up company.
