The Network Engagement Coordinator develops relationships with 80-100 leaders of partner agencies and member programs (agencies) and prospective agencies within a specific area of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s service area. The Network Engagement Coordinator along with the agency will facilitate the integrity of equitable and safe and local food distribution.  They will work to leverage community relationships of the Food Bank and of the agency network to collectively strategize to generate more resources, and a stronger voice on behalf of historically resilient communities.

                 

Responsibilities:

The Network Engagement Coordinator ensures compliance with all Local and Federal Government, Feeding America, and Food Bank regulatory guidelines. They will ensure the engagement of agencies with the Food Bank (e.g. regular shopping or receipt of food, communication with Food Bank staff, attendance at agency meetings, etc.). The Network Engagement Coordinator promotes agency alignment with the Food Bank's network values.


1.       Compliance and Risk Management -- 40%

Conducts site monitoring visits of agencies to ensure safe food storage and handling and ensure the practice of good stewardship of Food Bank product and appropriate record keeping. Adheres to a proactive and compassionate discipline approach when agencies are not in compliance with Food Bank, Feeding America, Department of Agriculture, etc. policies. Receive, investigate, and respond to agency complaints and recommend follow up actions to the Food Sourcing & Network Services leadership team.

 

2.       Agency Communication and Support – 20%

Serve as primary Food Bank liaison for agencies to maintain effective lines of communication with the Food Bank and with other community organizations. Support and develop community organizations (both within and outside of our network) in resourceful communities; help connect agencies with local resources, both public and private, to assist agencies in accomplishing their missions.

 

3.       Agency Recruitment & Training – 15%

Collaborate with the Network Strategy, Programs and Community Health & Engagement teams to recruit agencies in identified areas and participate in the facilitation of agency Open House meetings. Lead potential agencies through the application process. Design, develop and deliver trainings for new and existing partners to ensure that they are fully engaged and can be effective members of the network.

 

4.       Agency Assessment & Capacity Building – 15%

Ensures that targeted support is provided to agencies and assist with capacity assessment and development.  Maintain methodology of categorizing agencies by service, capacity, and scope of work. Much of this work will be done through the agency optimization process, which will include surveys of and consultations with partner agencies.

 

5.       Food Systems Work – 10%

Support local food distribution and food systems in assigned areas; work with the Food Bank staff to support such systems. (Assist in the development of regional food security plans by working with agencies,) local community and governmental organizations and people facing food insecurity.

Qualifications:

  • 2 Year Associates degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a nonprofit, food bank, or social services organization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and ability to speak and work with people of diverse backgrounds is required.
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in the nonprofit sector, food bank industry, and social services field.
  • Experience in planning and organizing, problem solving, program management, strategic planning, and financial management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, member food banks, and partner agencies.
  • Valid NC driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. 
  • Professional proficiency in reading, writing and verbal communication in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to successfully receive Manager-Level food safety training certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and strong time-management skills and perform with little supervision are required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated experience in building work teams are required.

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and interact without deliberate impediment (e.g., wearing or listening to headphones, etc.).  The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and to stoop, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to work in an office setting.
  • Frequently, the employee will be required to drive an automobile.
  • The employee will be required to interact with Food Bank personnel in the warehouse(s). In doing so, the employee will occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
