This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sanitation team on 3rd Shift. The Sanitation Manager assures compliance with regulatory, customer and GMPs requirements. The position will be responsible for people and team development to ensure continual improvement process while delivering a clean and sanitary workplace.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:


  • Select, train and supervise department employees; evaluate performance to assure adherence to performance standards, taking corrective action as required. Maintain awareness of employee needs and concerns and take steps necessary to foster a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Regularly attends to USDA, County and other officials during morning plant inspections, while effectively communicating internal policies, and/or root-cause corrective action plans 
  • Effective diagnostic and root cause driven problem solving skills to help combat high micro caused by production equipment
  • Maintain awareness of employee needs and concerns and take steps to foster respectful work environment
  • Provides training to sanitation and operations staff on proper cleaning techniques and sanitation procedures. Enforces all company policies and procedures.
  • Manages the proper assignment of day-to-day activities of direct reports.
  • Manages Sanitation Programs. Develops sanitation policies in accord with regulatory and quality systems requirements.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Analyzes sanitation data in order to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities. Maintains sanitation records
  • Maintains a systematic procedure for all actions necessary to ensure that the facility is free from conditions that may cause product contamination or adulteration.
  • Maintains exceptional level of sanitation in the plant. Performs internal daily, weekly and quarterly inspections and audits and assures that external inspections are conducted to keep the facility compliant with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory agency requirements. Ensures proper corrective action is taken, as needed.
  • Reviews and verifies that all assignments are completed and posted on MSS. Prepares reports and documentation relative to sanitation operations, as required.
  • Manages the sanitation inventory of chemicals and tools. Complies with Safety Data Sheet requirements in the handling of chemicals and proper use of PPE ensuring Sanitation team members are trained upon hire and annually thereafter.
  • Develops a partnership with quality, operations, and maintenance in order to meet company’s objectives.
  • Back up and support the development of KPIs and monthly reports.
  • Supports the recovery program team and assures readiness via mock recall program.
  • Back up and support the development and management of department budget. Assures that department meets budget goals. Monitors performance of departmental budget and quarterly projections.
  • Researches new technology and suppliers of sanitation materials. Responsible for contracting and managing outside services, as needed.
  • At the direction of senior management, assist in other technical duties necessary to optimize current sanitation processes.
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Employee must carry/lift up to 10 –55 lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and understand complex mathematical equations for chemical formulation. 
  • Fluent Bilingual Spanish
  • Food Safety Experience
  • Frequent bending at waist/knees
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.
  • Most time is spent on the production floor where the use of personal protective equipment is required and there is exposure to temperature extremes, dust, and machinery.
  • Must be flexible to work Monday-Sunday.
