Position Overview:

The Brand & Comms Manager will be an integral part of the agency communications and brand marketing/PR team at MullenLowe US. Utilizing their knowledge of best practices in the corporate communications space, the manager will promote MullenLowe's brand across the media, marketing and advertising industry via five key pillars of communication: Public Relations (PR), Awards, Events, Thought Leadership and Owned Channels in order to enhance MullenLowe's positioning in the advertising industry.

Having pre-established media relationships at national media outlets and creative industry publications, they are a steward of the news and have a proven track record securing press coverage, experience developing narratives and an understanding of how to curate the compelling stories. They come to the table with innovative and creative ideas that capture the attention of press while working fluidly within a team and independently across projects.

This is a full-time exempt position based in New York and reports to the Head of MullenLowe Brand & Communications. This role requires a highly collaborative team player who can build relationships both within and outside the agency.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead planning, development, and execution of Public Relations activities in accordance with the MullenLowe's objectives.
  • Drafts compelling communications and content for PR outlets, awards shows, trade organizations, and MullenLowe's social and digital owned channels.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of MullenLowe's capabilities and positioning to anticipate needs.
  • Provide knowledge in media relations, influencer relations, event management and social media programming.
  • Maintain and nurture a robust network of press contacts.
  • Develop ability to think creatively when it comes to reshaping news angles or pitches to secure standout coverage for the agency and its campaigns.
  • Execute PR Strategy by drafting pitch copy, press targets, press release, coordinating interviews, and briefings for interviews.
  • Manage measurement tools and press reporting.
  • Maintain and educate public relations team surrounding effective and strategic public relations writing and messaging practices.
  • Contributes to PR projects through all phases of production.
  • Work with the Brand & Comms team to develop stories that are on strategy and reflect MullenLowe's brand personality.
  • Effectively manages time across multiple projects, adhering to budgets and deadlines.
  • Seek opportunities to continually improve technical skills and application knowledge.
  • Lead by example, upholding MullenLowe's core values and to act as a mentor to other members of the Brand & Comms team
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications preferred, or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in an agency, start up, client-side role or equivalent experience in a relevant creative industry
  • Knowledge and practical application of media relations, influencer relations, social media and/or PR measurement practices and tools preferred
  • A proven track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical and creative thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations
