Job Description

Part-time personal support worker for JD, an active 32 year old woman with developmental disabilities and visual impairment who lives in downtown Durham. JD enjoys dance and swimming at the YMCA and uses a wheelchair. She sometimes needs help transferring to/from shower chair. She also needs some assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, some meds assistance, dressing, hygiene, and occasional driving with her in her van to appointments or shopping. Must be able to push her chair up into a van (with her in it) and down, lean over chair to assist with dressing, etc. JD prefers people who are friendly, dependable, physically fit, honest, use common sense, and have a sense of humor. Previous experience helpful, but not necessary. Must be female, 18 or older, have HS diploma or equivalent, have current driver's license and be willing to submit to background check. Paid training period and flexible hours for the right person. $22 per hour to start. Openings for Day shift Tue-Fri 9am - 2:30 pm starting now. Also available: fill in for evening shifts and weekends. 25 hrs/week. Sign on bonus available after (paid) training and orientation period.
