Description
The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is a people focused, award-winning, full-service consulting firm that offers a wide array of services including civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying and construction support. Our talented staff of more than 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions.
Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Design Group Manager to lead our projects in Columbus, OH!
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple design teams in daily operations
  • Develop staffing needs, distribute work to teams to level workload
  • Work with team leaders/project managers to monitor overall health of projects (scope, schedule, budget, etc.)
  • Monitor group workload, utilization, billable hours
  • Work with Civil Service Line leaders to identify additional staffing needs (i.e. training, personnel)
  • Mentor staff while executing office and company growth plan
  • Proposal / contract preparation and project management
  • Successfully manage and deliver work tasks on time
  • Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of professional services that MSG provides including Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Funding Strategies/Grant Writing, and Construction Administration, etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Have record of managing multiple civil design engineers or teams, projects and disciplines

  • Be willing to mentor and teach younger staff
