Seeking meaningful employment?Become a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals. The DSP works in the individuals home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individuals

Description: Provide part-time support to a college student at Mars Hill. He is interested in history, theatre, and expanding his social circle on campus. His values include his independence and his Christian faith.

His health and safety requires specific monitoring due tomedical complexity. Duties will include: Helping with schoolwork-- overseeing use of dictation software, making corrections for accuracy. Uploading textbook pages to dictation software.

Preparing food,ensuring safety during mealtimes. Assisting withmaintainance ofliving space. Providing support with fine motor skills, communication, and conversational skills.

Ensuringhealth and safety. Requirements: High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school. Valid NC Drivers license and acceptable Driving Record.

Criminal Record Check. Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management. Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.

Ability to remain on ones feet most of the time. Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel. Prompt and regular attendance.

Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays. Ability to meet client-specific needs. .
