Job description

Job Description:

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible and accountable for ensuring all finished products are packaged according to Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) specifications and Quality Management Process (QMP) standards, supporting Mars Quality and Food Safety principles. This role plays a critical part in delivering safe, high-quality products while maintaining operational excellence and production efficiency.

New hires are eligible for a $2,500 Sign-On Bonus for this position.

What are we looking for?

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Good math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of computers and equipment HMIs.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner with a positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge of Safety, Quality, and Material Management Systems and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of food safety principles and practices.
  • Effective problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Previous manufacturing, packaging, production, or food manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Forklift operating experience and/or forklift certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Adhere to all personal safety practices that meet Mars standards and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Operate packaging equipment within established efficiency and productivity standards while maintaining compliance with product specifications.
  • Perform quality checks and maintain accurate documentation as required by the QMP and site standards.
  • Complete equipment adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support Mars Supply Excellence initiatives and Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities within the work area.
  • Adhere to the site's master sanitation program and housekeeping requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance operational performance and key plant metrics.
  • Comply with all food safety requirements, Quality Management Processes, and site safety programs.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and a commitment to the Mars Five Principles.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts where qualified and required, to support production and packaging operations.
