Job description

The Electromechanical Technician installs, maintains, and repairs complex electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment while ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Working independently in a fast-paced environment, this position requires technical expertise to manage multiple priorities, minimize downtime, and support production goals through continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role demands strong judgment, efficient troubleshooting skills, and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs comprehensive electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex manufacturing equipment, including 24V analog/digital circuitry, VFDs, PLCs, and automated systems
  • Executes preventive maintenance programs through scheduled inspections, calibrations, and repairs while documenting all activities in computerized maintenance systems
  • Interprets and works from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic layouts, and technical documentation to diagnose and repair equipment
  • Tests and troubleshoots electrical systems using multi-meters, ammeters, and diagnostic equipment
  • *Installs, wires, and verifies operation of 3-phase, single-phase, and DC motors according to electrical schematics
  • Implements and strictly follows safety protocols, including LockOut/TagOut procedures and emergency response procedures
  • Performs rigging and lifting operations for heavy equipment components while following safety requirements
  • Maintains accurate documentation of repairs, parts usage, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with production schedules and shift leadership to minimize downtime
  • Provides technical training and support to operators on equipment operation and basic maintenance
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects
  • Collaborates with team members, vendors, and contractors to support maintenance operations and equipment upgrades
  • Other duties as assigned
  • *Not in all PPK locations

Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience a plus

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in computer-based maintenance systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Multi-skilled in all areas of industrial maintenance
  • Able to use precision measuring equipment such as calipers
  • Able to engage in a team working collaboratively as well as making repairs independently
  • Metalworking and welding skills are a plus
  • HVAC experience a plus
  • Prefer to have strong electrical skills including experience with PLCs and drives, troubleshooting control circuits

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking for extended periods
  • Working in various positions (bending, kneeling, reaching)
  • Required to lift, bend, crouch, reach, twist, and crawl.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment (noise, heat, chemicals)
  • May require working in confined spaces
  • Required to work in high places.
  • Required to ascend and descend ladders safely.
  • Safely operate mobile equipment.
  • Forklift Boom, scissor certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Ability to wear ARC flash equipment
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection as needed
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to:
  • Noise levels above 85 dB
  • Operation of complex machinery
  • Solvents, fumes and inks
  • Concrete floors, roof areas
  • Working at heights, hot work
  • Works near energized and moving equipment
  • Variable Temperatures
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
  • May require nights, weekends, and holidays. An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (qualifying hours vary by location).
