JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will be responsible for identifying and implementing technology to provide automation support to all manufacturing plants. The individual in this position will have good working knowledge of control system technology (SCADA ,PLC's, HMI's, OI's, etc.) as well as grounding in the scientific fundamentals and basic principles of systems used in processing and packaging. This position will have responsibility for development and maintenance of automation / project standards. This individual will work closely with our Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams by providing IT expertise to ensure the continuity of automated equipment, servers and control systems. This position will require the individual to manage multiple projects across multiple plants and to take a hands-on approach to design, installations and troubleshooting
JOB DUTIES:
Coordinate regular maintenance of production equipment, servers and industrial automated systems
Analyze and assist/lead with the implementation of system upgrades
Design, program and configure PLCs and HMIs
Troubleshoot complex electrical and instrumentation equipment as well as various network protocols; Ethernet/IP, Control Net, Profibus, Device net, AS-I, Canopen, Modbus, Sercos
Provide technical support, and serve as a liaison for maintenance, operation, and engineering departments
Develop and deliver technical training to department personnel
Interface with equipment manufacturers to resolve problems
Adhere to and support safety and quality regulations and policies
Effectively work in a team setting and promote company goals and objectives
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of various related networks protocols
We are 24/7 Operations - Will have to work Holiday's & Weekends if needed.
Ability to configure computers and stay current with evolving technology
Ability to read and understand equipment and technical manuals/drawings
Ability to define problems, collet data, establish facts, and draw conclusions in a systematic fashion
Pro-active mindset with the ability to apply common sense and good judgment under minimal supervision
Effective communication skills
Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Degree in Engineering
5+ years of experience in hands-on automation engineering and programming experience with PLC / HMI / BMS systems in the manufacturing industry
Previous troubleshooting of complex electrical and systems instrumentation
Minimum 2 years of experience in an FDA regulated industry like Food or BioPharma, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Physical to virtual (P2V) computer imaging knowledge experience
Bachelor's in, electrical chemical, or mechanical engineering or Advanced degree
Experience in a manufacturing/production industry
Experience with technologies like; PLC -- Rockwell, A/B, HMI -- Operator interface terminals like Panel View, etc.
Automation / Controls engineering experience in a system integrator environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to climb, bend and stretch
Must be able to work in a cold storage environment
