Job description
We are hiring for multiple positions within the steel processing and manufacturing industry throughout Morgan and Limestone Counties, AL. These opportunities are evaluation-to-hire positions with potential for full-time placement.
THIS IS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING JOB
Skills/Qualifications- Previous experience in a manufacturing, steel processing, warehouse, or industrial environment is a plus.
- Previous experience operating a forklift and/or overhead crane is a plus.
- Must be willing to learn and able to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
- Must be capable of working an entire work week on a consistent basis, including overtime as required.
- Must have a working command of the English language.
- Must be a self-starter and capable of performing tasks with limited supervision.
- Punctuality and dependability are required.
- Ability to work effectively in extreme working conditions, including excessive noise, heat, cold, and other industrial environments.
- Must be willing to regularly wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to safely work around heavy steel products, industrial machinery, overhead cranes, and other production equipment.
- Assist with the processing, handling, packaging, and movement of steel products.
- Load, unload, stage, and organize steel materials according to established procedures.
- Assist machine operators and production personnel with daily manufacturing and processing activities.
- Operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts or overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
- Assist with banding, wrapping, labeling, and preparing steel products for shipment.
- Inspect materials for visible defects and report issues to supervisors or machine operators.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors in a noisy industrial environment.
- Perform other general labor and production duties as assigned.
Positions may vary depending on the client and department. Available opportunities may include general labor, machine operation, material handling, banding/packaging, crane operation, forklift operation, and other steel-processing positions.
Schedules, pay rates, job duties, and experience requirements may vary by position and client.
