Medical Records Coder

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education / Training: Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of an Associate Degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program. Coding Certificate with requisite work experience may be considered

B. Work Experience: Requires a minimum of 1 year of coding experience in an acute care setting.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration: Requires registry or registry eligible for either the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is preferred. Certified Coding Associate (CCA) with requisite coding experience may be considered.

D. Other Qualifications: Proficient keyboarding and general knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel); demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with various health information and hospital database software programs.
