Job description

LocationPalm Coast, United States of America

Are you an engineering leader with experience in advanced materials and manufacturing environments? Business Unit Medical, within Alleima, is a global leader in ultra-fine wire and precision material solutions used in medical and microelectronic applications. This role focuses on the development and industrialization of material-based components; not software or finished medical devices working at the intersection of materials science, process engineering, and manufacturing scale up. Join us to lead innovation in high-performance wire solutions that support life-changing technologies.

Relocation to Palm Coast, FL required.

Your Role

As a Manager of R&D Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for the design, development, and industrialization of physical medical products. You will bridge R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams to bring new material-based solutions to market.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop a team of mechanical, materials, and product development engineers in a manufacturing environment

  • Drive end-to-end hardware product development, from concept through prototyping, validation, and production transfer

  • Oversee design for manufacturability (DFM) and ensure alignment with plant operations and quality standards

  • Partner closely with operations, quality, and supply chain to scale products into production

  • Manage engineering resources, timelines, and budgets for physical product development programs

  • Guide materials selection, process development, and performance validation for fine wire and related technologies

  • Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and quality systems (e.g., ISO standards)

  • Contribute to strategic decisions related to manufacturing capabilities, equipment investment, and product innovation

About You

You have a degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, manufacturing engineering, or a related field, along with several years of experience leading engineering teams in a product development and manufacturing environment. Your background is rooted in physical product development rather than software or IT systems, with hands-on experience guiding products from concept through prototyping, testing, and production. You bring strong leadership and project management skills, along with a deep understanding of materials, processes, and design for manufacturability. Experience in medical devices or regulated industries is highly valued.
