Job description

Position Summary
The Industrial Engineering Specialist supports the Manager Industrial Engineering within the Ops Strategy & Engineering team on operational improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and process improvement across JetBlue operations. This role assists with data collection, time studies, process analysis, dashboard development, and implementation support for operational projects. The Specialist will work closely with Industrial Engineering team members and operational stakeholders to identify opportunities, analyze performance, and support execution of process improvements. This is a temporary position intended to support project initiatives and is based at the Long Island City Support Center (LSC).
Essential Responsibilities
  • Support Industrial Engineering projects through data collection, field observations, time studies and operational analysis
  • Analyze operational performance data and assist in identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Assist in development and maintenance of operational dashboards and analytical tools
  • Support the creation and documentation of operational standards and process flows
  • Partner with operational teams and stakeholders to support implementation
  • Present findings and recommendations to team members and operational stakeholders
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to operational efficiency, planning, and process optimization
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and willingness to take initiative
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Exposure to SQL, Tableau, simulation, Python, R, or similar analytical tools through coursework, projects, or prior experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Able to secure local housing (when applicable)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Passionate about innovation, the airline industry, airport operations and JetBlue
  • Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in operations, analytics, or process improvement
  • Experience with simulation, statistical analysis, or mathematical modeling
  • Experience building dashboards or querying databases using SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, or similar tools
  • Interest in airline operations, operational strategy, and continuous improvement

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary, including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:
  • The base pay range for this position is $27.50 per hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
