The Role: Industrial Engineer

Location: Raleigh, NC

Type: Permanent

What You ll Do:

Our client is looking for an Industrial Engineer to join their Team! The Industrial Engineer will be leading development, procurement, implementation, and certification of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling for new or redesigned products.

Responsibilities in this role will include:

Process Planning:

  • Plans required processes, job sequences, labor minutes, equipment requirements, and all associated costs for product changes or new concepts.
  • Helps project team determine best utilization of equipment, facilities, material flow and usage of personnel.
  • Assists with planning and budgeting of manufacturing capacities to meet sales forecasts.
  • Develops process flowcharts, line layouts, materials requirements, control plans, and process failure mode and effect analysis.
  • Develops new tooling concepts and provides internal and external suppliers with required specifications or system requirements.
  • Evaluates and approves equipment tooling designs prior to fabrication.
  • Schedules and supports running in and approval of facilities equipment according to internal or external customer requirements.
  • Prepares and approves process related documentation including work, gauging, testing, and maintenance instructions in accordance with applicable industry quality standards.
  • Coordinates and communicates with all departments and suppliers to ensure on time deliveries of new tooling or equipment in accordance with overall project schedule.

Product Development:

  • Utilizes design for manufacturing skills and knowledge to: ensure development of high quality products, minimize development costs, and maximize product performance.
  • Plans development and approval of material handling and packaging requirements with internal and external departments.

Cross Departmental Support:

  • Supports and follows all industrialization requirements according to Advanced Product Quality (APQP) guidelines and production standards for the applicable product industry.
  • Maintains a synergistic relationship with other company departments including Design/Concept Engineering, Research and Development, Production, Materials, and Industrialization.
  • Provides new process and equipment training to global production staff and assists with reliability and repeatability studies, process capability analysis, and process certifications.
  • Identifies and records problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Initiates, recommends, and provides solutions through designated channels and verifies the implementation of solutions.
  • Represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality systems requirements (e.g. selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, supporting training, assisting in corrective & preventative actions, acting as a cross-functional team member supporting the product design and development activity).
  • Researches advancements in industrial solutions and recommends new techniques for inclusion into corporate standards.

Administrative / General:

  • Organizes records and work efforts to assure timely accomplishment of tasks.
  • Periodically checks and maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Observes company policies related to dress, appearance, attendance, employment, etc.
  • Travels to various locations and customers as required, including international travel.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology Degree OR Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a team leader or senior engineer for multiple new product industrialization projects for electric motor driven devices and design/development of electronically commutated motor (ECM) products
  • Five years exposure to mid to high volume, customized product manufacturing
  • Three years of participation on a cross-functional product development team responsible for marketing, product design, and production implementation phases.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or TS 16949 quality systems requirements. Up to 20% international and domestic travel required.
  • Must have knowledge of component and equipment design using 3d CAD software Familiarity with design and process failure modes and effect analysis.
  • Project Management Software PC skills, MS Office
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Participative work style, ability to work in a team environment. Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but also be able to recognize and support the organization s preferences and priorities.
  • Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills. Results oriented with a high level of initiative.
  • Basic German language skills preferred but not required
