Job description

About Electric Boat - Department 475 
Department 475 (D475) is responsible for managing the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) Network (NNPP Net) at Electric Boat.  The NNPP Net is a classified Wide Area Network (WAN) and provides electronic data communications for NNPI up to CON-RD level. 

D475 is seeking a well-rounded, highly motivated individual with solid technical skills to join its IT team. The position is for a senior level Windows Server Administrator looking to learn and grow within the team in a fast paced environment.  The role requires an advanced understanding of technology including server, network, virtualization, database, application and scripting skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend training sessions to maintain and improve skillsets as well as cross train peers. The position provides challenging work and a means to continue gaining technical skills and broadening experience.

Since the NNPP Net is not internet facing this position is 100% on-site, with no remote work availability.

Windows Server Administrator Responsibilities

  • Managing, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows Servers
  • Managing, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining networked printers
  • Managing, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining Commercial off the shelf (COTS) client/server applications
  • Managing, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining VMware vSphere
  • Researching, deploying, testing, and maintaining security best practices
  • Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors
  • Managing user access
  • Monitoring system performance

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Applicant must possess, or be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Six or more years of experience post graduation as a Windows Systems Administrator or similar role
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Operating Systems
  • Experience with administering and maintaining Microsoft PKI (ADCS)
  • Experience administering and maintaining Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy
  • Experience administering and maintaining Windows Server Failover Clustering
  • Experience hardening systems (DISA STIGs/CIS Benchmarks/NIST 800.53)
  • Experience administering VMware vSphere systems (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN)
  • Advanced PowerShell/PowerShell scripting knowledge and experience

 

 

Preferred:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Previous experience administering DoD, military, or Federal Government systems
  • Fundamental Unix/Linux knowledge
  • Endpoint Security Systems (ESS) Knowledge
  • Hardware Security Module (HSM) management experience
  •  

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
