Job description

Job Title-Windows and SQL Administrator

Job Location: Columbus, Ohio

Duration: Longterm Contract 

 
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Windows and SQL Administrator to manage, upgrade, and support enterprise Windows server environments and Microsoft SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for upgrading Windows Server environments, migrating on-premise SQL Server databases to cloud platforms, and supporting CI/CD processes using Jenkins. This role requires strong experience in system administration, database management, and cloud migration.
 
Key Responsibilities
Upgrade all Windows Server 2019 virtual machines to Windows Server 2022 while ensuring system stability and minimal downtime.
Plan and execute the migration of on-premises Microsoft SQL Server databases to cloud platforms using the latest SQL Server version.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
Manage and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, backups, and security.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to support Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
Monitor system performance, availability, and security of servers and databases.
Perform system patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Document system configurations, upgrade procedures, and migration processes.
Troubleshoot server, database, and infrastructure issues in a timely manner.
 
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Windows System Administrator or Windows Server Administrator.
Strong experience with Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and database migration.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) for database migration.
Familiarity with Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline processes.
Experience working with virtual machines and virtualization environments.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
Familiarity with high availability, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
 
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
