Principal Data Analyst (Data Modeling)
Location: Remote (100% Telecommute)
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST
Rate: $60-65/hr
Overview
Our client is seeking a Principal Data Analyst / Senior Data Modeler to support enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and analytics initiatives. This role will focus on translating complex healthcare business requirements into scalable data models and architectures, while driving data strategy, governance, and optimization across large datasets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute enterprise data architecture strategy and long-term roadmap
  • Lead data modeling, data architecture, and data integration initiatives for large-scale healthcare datasets
  • Translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Design and oversee data flows across systems, ensuring consistency and scalability
  • Evaluate existing data systems and recommend improvements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (data engineers, SMEs, architects) to deliver end-to-end data solutions
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PHI, PII) and enforce data governance standards
  • Oversee data quality, metadata management, and data governance frameworks
  • Support development of data warehouses, data marts, and advanced analytics solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to data integration and system compatibility
  • Develop testing strategies to validate data accuracy and performance
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data architecture and enterprise data environment
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a timely manner
Required Qualifications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Data Modeling & Data Architecture (enterprise scale)
    • Healthcare data domains (Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial)
    • Data strategy, governance, and large-scale analytics solutions
  • Experience working with:
    • OLTP, OLAP, MDM, and dimensional modeling techniques (star schema, SCDs, hierarchies, etc.)
  • Advanced SQL expertise:
    • Complex queries, stored procedures, DDL/DML/DCL
    • Query optimization and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data security
    • Healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, PHI, PII)
  • Experience with data migration, archival, and integration strategies
  • 5+ years of experience with Erwin Data Modeler
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform (Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Purview, etc.)
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau

This role supports a large enterprise data warehouse initiative focused on healthcare analytics. The Data Modeler will work with complex datasets to design scalable data solutions, support governance initiatives, and enable analytics and reporting across the organization.
