The Dewatering Business Development Manager is responsible for the strategic growth, commercialization, and operational maturity of Rain for Rent’s Dewatering business across all regions. This role owns national market development, sales enablement, process standardization, and cross-functional coordination to scale engineered dewatering solutions in a safe, profitable, and repeatable manner.

As the Dewatering Business Development Manager, you will supervise the Dewatering team and its strategic direction. This position will provide technical support and training for existing and new dewatering products to internal and external customers while developing and executing strategies to achieve sales targets and revenue growth. The Dewatering Business Development Manager must communicate effectively with the Sales Management team, as well as Branch Managers. Will work to advance market awareness of Rain for Rent dewatering products and services. Will be responsible to create and drive training, development, knowledge to support revenue goals for new and repeat dewatering business at the branches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales & Market Development

  • Develop and execute a national growth strategy for Dewatering services aligned with executive leadership.
  • Lead market startup efforts in all regions including sales plans, blitzes, and lunch-and-learns.
  • Partner with Sales teams to Identify, develop, and manage target accounts and key market opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales Managers and Branch teams to integrate dewatering into local sales efforts.
  • Develop strategic presentations, negotiate deals and obtain signed contracts for dewatering projects. Manage both short and long-term projects.
  • Lead customer engagements through site visits, ride-alongs, and executive-level meetings.
  • Actively target, develop, maintain, and close funnel of sales opportunities and document all sales activity through customer relationship management system.
  • Partner with Regional Managers to Develop annual and forward-looking revenue targets by branch and region.

Quoting, Estimating & Contracting

  • Develop and maintain standardized Dewatering quoting tools and templates.
  • Coordinate estimator engagement and scope delineation processes.
  • Establish contracting standards including scope clarity and risk allocation.
  • Provide escalation support for complex bids and negotiations.

Operations & Process Standardization

  • Lead billing standardization initiatives for scalable growth using construction industry billing best practices.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained on the appropriate platform.
  • Develop a national Dewatering Training Program for Sales and Operations Professionals.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; trade shows, professional publications and maintain personal networks.
  • Develop standardized KPI’s and reporting to track business performance.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the operation.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or construction management. Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in related sales or business development is required with at least four (4) years leading a team is required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Experience managing large sales territories and offering diverse products.
  • Experience developing and executing business development strategies to achieve sales targets and revenue growth.
  • Expertise identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the dewatering market. 
  • General knowledge of water handling practices and hydraulic knowledge of pumps.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor changing weather conditions and well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The employee is periodically exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and heat (non-weather), vibration, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel:

Frequent overnight travel (50 -70%) by land and/or air.
