Who We Are
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Engineer Systems 2. This onsite position is located at the Navy Warfare Development Center at Norfolk Naval Station and supports both the Maritime Operations Center - Exercise Support Team (MOC-EST) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Corona (NSWC-Corona). The selected candidate will help deliver Navy LVC training across all assigned Areas of Responsibility (AORs). In this role, the engineer will serve as the C4I Systems Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Engineer, providing GCCS operational expertise during all Fleet Synthetic Training - Operations (FST-O) events for fleet and task force staffs.
What You Will Do
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • The Specialist will be required to perform Operations on all NSWC C4I systems and Maintenance as required.
  • Interface with outside agencies to provide C4I system connectivity between major commands and will assist with the testing and integration of new C4I technologies.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise in operating Global Command and Control System-Joint (GCCS-J) system.
  • Provide Onsite and remote troubleshooting support for C4I systems across NCTE Enterprise.
  • Prepare reports and briefs as required.

What You Must Have
  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Candidates must be able to analyze and troubleshoot at the system level to detect and resolve problems and will require interaction with Military, Government and Contractor Leadership.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to work non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.
  • Candidate must have strong background in Common Tactical Picture Management (CTPM), GCCS-M/J.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a COMPTIA Security+ certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Candidate must be able to complete a Cyber Security Workforce approved Operating System course within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Candidate must be able to address technical issues and engage engineers from the appropriate domains to resolve.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.

  • Experience with Operational Specification for Over the Horizon Gold (OS-OTG)

  • Familiarity with Joint Semi-Automated Forces/Joint Simulated Bus (JSAF/JBUS).
  • DIS Experience with Model and Simulation Systems to include Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) and JSAF.
  • Experience working with Navy training systems and command structure.
  • Experience working with Joint Staff or headquarters.

Physical Requirements
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
