Payroll & Equity Specialist

Infleqtion is poised for significant growth after completing our transition to a publicly traded company (NYSE ticker symbol “INFQ”). We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll & Equity Speciliast to join our accounting team. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and supporting our transformation into a world-class public company.

The Payroll & Equity Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager and is responsible for stock-based compensation payroll transactions including reconciling the stock-based transactions and reporting in the payroll files, payroll-related reconciliations, and serving as a backup to the Payroll Manager for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll and payroll tax compliance. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Equity Administration, and external payroll providers to ensure payroll is processed in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and international regulations. The Payroll Specialist will also administer and reconcile employee equity-related payroll events, including stock option exercises, restricted stock vesting, employee stock sales, and related tax withholding obligations for payroll reporting and Form W-2 preparation.

Key Responsibilities

Equity Compensation Payroll Administration

  • Review and reconcile stock option exercises, restricted stock vesting events, RSU releases, ESPP transactions, and other equity compensation activities.
  • Calculate and validate taxable income associated with equity transactions.
  • Reconcile reports from equity administration platforms JP Morgan Workplace Solutions to payroll records.
  • Ensure proper payroll tax withholding for nonqualified stock option (NSO) exercises, RSU vesting, ESPP disqualifying dispositions, and other taxable equity events.
  • Coordinate with payroll providers, brokers, and finance teams to ensure equity transactions are accurately reflected in payroll.
  • Reconcile shares withheld for taxes and cash remitted by brokers.
  • Support accounting and reporting requirements related to stock-based compensation payroll transactions.

Payroll Reconciliations and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain payroll account reconciliations, including:
  • Payroll tax liabilities
  • Wage and withholding accounts
  • Benefit deductions
  • Equity compensation payroll transactions
  • Payroll clearing accounts
  • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll variances and exceptions.
  • Assist Accounting during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Serve as back-up to Payroll Manager, gaining an understanding to perform the following tasks:

  • Process bi-weekly payrolls accurately and timely.
  • Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, and timekeeping information.
  • Process off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, commissions, severance payments, and other special payroll transactions.
  • Ensure accurate federal, state, and local tax withholding and reporting
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including Forms W-2, W-2c

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3-5+ years of payroll administration experience.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Experience with payroll tax compliance and year-end reporting.
  • Experience with publicly traded companies preferred.
  • Experience with UKG, NetSuite and JP Morgan Workplace Solutions preferred.

Benefits
