Job description

JQ Staffing Services is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Social Service Coordinator for a senior community center located in South Philadelphia.


This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with older adults and helping individuals access important benefits, programs, and community resources. The Social Service Coordinator will provide guidance, referrals, advocacy, and ongoing support to senior center participants.

This is not a bilingual-required position.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet with senior center participants to identify their individual needs and concerns.

• Provide information and referrals for social services, healthcare resources, housing assistance, transportation, public benefits, and other community programs.

• Assist participants with applications, forms, and required documentation.

• Follow up with participants to ensure they receive the appropriate services and support.

• Maintain accurate and confidential participant records and case notes.

• Coordinate with community organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, and other service providers.

• Advocate for participants who need assistance accessing services or programs.

• Help organize educational programs, workshops, outreach activities, and special events.

• Communicate professionally and compassionately with participants, families, staff members, and outside agencies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in social services, case management, community outreach, senior services, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience working with older adults or vulnerable populations is strongly preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up abilities.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

• Comfortable using computers, email, and basic office programs.

• Must be compassionate, patient, dependable, and able to work independently.

• Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and clearances.


EDUCATION:

A degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience may also be considered.
