A social service coordinator performs assessments for children and adults who are seeking social services, such as subsidized housing, medical care, or employment assistance. Your duties are to help carry out efforts to broaden your department’s reach among residents of a community. You help recruit and enroll applicants, provide them with direction to community resources, provide referral services to more specialized care, such as mental health provision or housing assistance. Your responsibilities also include administrative and clerical tasks, such as filling out paperwork and filing documents.
