Senior Revenue Accountant

Position Summary
The Senior Revenue Accountant ensures the integrity of revenue recognition by leading accounting processes that support timely, accurate, and U.S. GAAP-compliant revenue reporting. This role handles complex calculations, reconciliations, journal entries, and analytical reviews, and plays a key part in maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, including validating supporting reports, executing controls as documented, and contributing to remediation when deficiencies arise.
Operating with high autonomy, the Senior Revenue Accountant also mentors staff, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and actively participates in the monthly close process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of revenue postings
  • Prepare, reconcile, and post complex revenue-related journal entries (accruals, reclasses, corrections)
  • Analyze revenues, cost of sales, and margins by location
  • Investigate variances and historical trends (e.g., transit times, average costs)
  • Apply U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies to revenue recognition and journal entry processing
  • Monitor and clear suspense accounts
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial statement variance reporting
  • Assist with quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX compliance as needed
  • Serve as subject matter expert for revenue matters, collaborating across departments
  • Execute assigned internal controls on time, including verifying report completeness and accuracy in line with external audit standards
  • Recommend and implement process and workflow improvements
  • Support internal control initiatives, policy development, and remediation of control deficiencies
  • Mentor and provide oversight to junior accounting staff
  • Take on ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, graphs) and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • SAP experience preferred; familiarity with Power BI or similar data tools is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and deliver actionable insights
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule & Environment
  • Full-time position, minimum 8 hours per day, with flexibility to manage time-sensitive clearances and team coverage needs
  • Climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise level
