Job description

Summary
This position is located at Pinon Health Center, Clinical Services, Pinon, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a variety of administrative and clerical task associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the department that would otherwise require the attention of the supervisor. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care (CPS) SCY.
A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

  • Receives visitors and telephone calls for the work unit, determines the nature of requests, and provides routine information or refers matters to appropriate staff or the supervisor.
  • Maintains the supervisor's calendar and advises of scheduling conflicts or changes.
  • Prepares routine correspondence, memoranda, and reports using office automation software based on established formats.
  • Maintains files and records in accordance with established filing systems and records management procedures.
  • Performs timekeeping duties, including maintaining time and attendance records and preparing corrections.
  • Makes routine travel arrangements, initiates travel authorizations and prepares travel documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Orders office supplies and equipment, maintains inventory levels, and coordinates service or repair requests as needed.

Background Investigation Requirement:
This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.
A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Communicating effectively and interacting with a wide variety of individuals within and outside the organization and receives and answers routine telephone inquiries. Prepare a variety of documents.

Successfully completed 4 years of education beyond the high school level. Education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. Must submit transcripts
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type or work and/or tasks: Experience in creating and managing database, spreadsheets, graphics word processing, communicating effectively and interacting with a wide variety of individuals within and outside the organization, and receives and answers routine telephone inquiries. Preparing and processing a variety of documents associated with travel and timekeeping.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

This position has promotion potential to the GS-GS-6 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval. Promotion to the next higher grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
