Job description

Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at top universities.

The School Operations Associate (SOA) is a critical member of the campus operations team, serving as a primary support for the Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) in executing campus-level operational needs. The SOA plays a dual role: providing high-level administrative and logistical support for school-wide systems while serving as the primary back-up for the Front Office. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can transition seamlessly between student-facing interactions and behind-the-scenes operational planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Campus Operations & Event Support: Directly supports the APO in the planning and execution of school events and whole-school activities, including Picture Day and other campus milestones
  • Health & Student Services: Coordinates and facilitates annual vision and hearing screenings; manages the scholar clinic, providing basic first aid and medical assistance
  • Safety & Compliance: Oversees the execution and documentation of mandatory emergency drills
  • Assessment Logistics: Assists in the coordination and preparation for school-wide student assessments
  • Purchasing & Inventory: Manages campus supplies inventory and submits all Front Office purchase requests, ensuring the campus is stocked with office supplies, clinic needs, and copy paper
  • Front Office Back-up: Functions as the primary back-up for the Receptionist team, providing coverage for the front desk and phones during busy periods, lunch breaks, or staff absences
  • Relationship Building: Maintains a welcoming office environment and facilitates professional communication between families, teachers, and school leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Spanish/English bilingual fluency recommended
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Doc, Sheets, Slides)
  • Experience working in an education setting is a plus

Competencies:

  • Unwavering commitment to AAPS mission, scholars, families, and community
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems proactively
  • Relentless attention to detail and organizational excellence
  • Desire to learn continuously and implement feedback to increase effectiveness

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent movement and standing throughout the campus, with the flexibility to sit for extended periods during heavy administrative days or when providing front office backup
  • Reaching, stooping, and bending occasionally to access files, supplies, or equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly, and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Demonstrate fine motor skills for activities like writing, cutting, and using technology.
  • Maintain energy and stamina to engage actively with scholars throughout the day.
  • Respond quickly to the physical needs of children in a classroom or outdoor setting.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • This job can only be performed in person and is not eligible for remote or off-site work.
