Job description

Scale Operator

Reports To: Operations Manager

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Greets customers, directs haulers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately.
  • Ensures that incoming material is manifested, safe, and does not contain prohibited material.
  • Obtains information regarding material entering landfill to properly bill the customer and track the total amount and type of waste entering the landfill.
  • Provides a scale ticket to the customer, signs the waste manifest, and documents the waste entering the landfill.
  • Completes all administrative tasks including regular filing and completes required reports.
  • Identifies and reports problems; gathers needed information to develop solutions.
  • Reports customer and/or supplier problems to management and responds promptly to customer needs.
  • Ensures that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Communicates with General Manager, and other operators via a 2-way radio for proper dispatch
  • Provides general housekeeping of the Scale House
  • Analytical thinker who can multi-task and is extremely organized

Shift/Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Start times 5 am-3 pm.
  • Additional hours may be needed
