Job description

We are seeking professional, detail-oriented Scale House Operators / Gate Attendants to support daily aggregate plant operations. This position serves as the first point of contact for truck drivers, visitors, contractors, and employees while ensuring accurate processing of inbound and outbound truck traffic through the facility's scale system.

Successful candidates will provide exceptional customer service, maintain accurate records, and ensure efficient daily operations of the scale house while working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Available Shifts

This operation is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Two employees are assigned to each shift, with additional relief coverage provided to maintain operational continuity and schedule flexibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the facility's truck scale system for inbound and outbound vehicles.
  • Accurately record tare, gross, and net weights.
  • Process weigh tickets, corrections, reweighs, and exceptions according to established procedures.
  • Verify shipment information and maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Greet and assist truck drivers, visitors, contractors, and employees in a professional manner.
  • Control access to the facility and communicate with plant personnel regarding site traffic.
  • Utilize computer systems, Microsoft Outlook, and other electronic communication tools to process transactions and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete reports as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a professional office environment.

Training

Selected candidates will receive on-the-job training to learn the facility's scale operations, ticketing system, and weighmaster procedures. Training may include travel to another company location for certification or hands-on instruction if required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in customer service, dispatching, administrative support, logistics, scale operations, shipping and receiving, or a similar office environment preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous scale house or weighmaster experience.
  • Experience in aggregate, construction materials, transportation, trucking, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Familiarity with ticketing, shipping, or logistics software.
  • Experience working with commercial truck drivers and transportation documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computers, keyboards, telephones, and office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and by telephone or radio.
  • Occasional walking throughout the facility as needed.

Work Environment

This position is based in a scale house/gate office supporting a 24-hour industrial operation. Employees regularly interact with commercial truck drivers, contractors, plant personnel, vendors, visitors, regulatory representatives, and company leadership.
