Job description

 Position Summary:

The Surgical Robotics Coordinator (SRC) is integral in evaluating service needs, care delivery related to quality, safety and efficiency of care for the robotic surgery program. The SRC serves as the primary resource and subject matter expert for all robotic surgical systems within the facility.  This role ensures the safe, efficient, and effective operation of multiple robotic platforms across surgical specialties.  The coordinator oversees equipment readiness, physician and staff training, safety and compliance standards, and inventory management in collaboration with surgeons, vendor partners and perioperative staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate degree (ASN) in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSN) in Nursing preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of Operating Room experience required.
  • Da Vinci Coordinator Training or previous experience as Robotics Coordinator preferred.
  • Has a basic knowledge of data collection.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as RN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • PALS certification required. 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
  • CNOR certification preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Perioperative Services in establishing and preparing for the program and use of robotics as mechanism to deliver unique services in surgical care.
  • Planning for and oversight of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for the delivery of surgical care across the continuum in robotic surgery.
  • Work with staff to use a standardized setup for robotic cases and operating rooms, maintain up to date list of equipment/ supplies kept/stocked in the robotic OR(s) and proactively communicates with the OR supply chain personnel to assure par levels are efficient.
  • Prepare and maintain robotic resource book, data base, surgeon preference cards and Instrument count sheets, and identify opportunities to grow robotic services and maximize financial revenue of the program.
  • Provide staff with updates to information including new technology, software updates as well as provide timely feedback regarding personnel and surgeon issues related to robotic surgery line. 
  • Be the primary contact for clinical troubleshooting of the DaVinci Surgical System during Robotic Procedures, support for new surgeons interested in robotic surgery, managing robotic surgery schedule, and maintaining and updating OR/hospital protocols related to robotic surgery.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
