Summary:
Robotics Coach - after-school practices (approximately 4-6 hours per week), competitions, occasional weekend build sessions (August-February), and leading a one-week summer robotics camp focused on prototyping, programming, and introductory robot builds, Planning Related to Robotics Meetings for Hosted Tournament. Total compensation $5,880.
E-Sports Coach - 10-week season, 3 days a week after school. Season start and end is at the discretion of PlayVS, but this year it was 2 weeks of preseason from 2/21-3/1, then 8 weeks of regular season excepting the week of Spring Break. Total compensation $1,820.
This position is supervised and evaluated by the athletic director.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach robot design, mechanics, and programming with the VEXcode V5 robotics system (programming in C++).
  • Understand and help guide students on the rules for each specific year's game.
  • Guide how to use the Engineering Design Process to rapidly prototype and test designs and strategies.
  • Helping be proactive by building strong team dynamics and communication with middle school students is very important.
  • Prepare students for matches, driver skills, and judging interviews.
  • Manage schedules, inventory, and competition logistics.
  • Promote a safe, collaborative, and growth-focused team culture.
  • Help coordinate with parents snacks, mentorship of teams and other logistics.

Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • Experience with VEX V5 hardware and software.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to students.
  • Strong organization and time management.
  • Strong communication with parents.

Preferred:
  • Prior coaching or mentoring in robotics competitions.
  • Knowledge of CAD, sensors, and mechanical/electrical prototyping.
