Job Overview
The BI Developer will work closely with a multidisciplinary agile team to build high quality data products as part of driving analytical solutions. These data products will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the advancement of data-driven decision-making capabilities of the enterprise. This role will function as the data and reporting expert for their specific domain areas as they support key stakeholders across the organization. The BI Developer will understand their stakeholder's data and information needs, will provide expert consultation on available tools, design options, and relevant data elements, and in the end provide high quality and reliable data products.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge specific not only to his / her respective data domain and module(s) but across the broader spectrum of EHR data models; demonstrates the proven ability to accurately and independently apply knowledge in the design and build of reporting, information, and analytic solutions.
  • High intermediate to advanced / expert level user of technical tools for the role.
  • Proven SQL coding experience at an advanced to master coder level; with specific facility in performing SQL tuning.
  • Responsible for delivering data warehouse and analytic solutions by writing ETL packages, developing visualizations, and performing data and statistical analyses.
  • Develop metadata for structure in the enterprise data warehouse (EDW).
  • Performs and coordinates simple to complex projects with minimal direction.
  • Optimizes internal resources to maximize team capabilities.
  • Leads peers to resolve complex issues consistent with organizational goals.
  • Serve as technical resource for discipline in cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborates as a member of a self-organizing team, in which bundles of work are scheduled, designed, built and delivered on a defined schedule.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment; able to communicate with teammates clearly and at the right times; ready to give and receive help to ensure the team's overall success.
  • Able to excel in a matrixed environment, both as a member of a home team with shared functional skills and as a member of time-delimited multidisciplinary project teams spinning up as needed and dissolving upon project completion.
  • Effective at identifying an approach to information delivery that will prove successful, and skilled at selling that approach to project team members and the sponsor/customer.

Qualifications
  • Solid experience and knowledge developing complex SQL scripts (intermediate to high intermediate, advanced/expert SQL programmer)
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge of analytical & BI tools (MS SQL Server, SAP, Tableau) (knowledge of statistical packages a plus)
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as: Tableau, SSRS, Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report troubleshooting ability.
  • Impeccable presentation skills and the proven ability to tailor messages appropriately dependent on the specific audience.
  • Exceptional written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to describe technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Able to produce data flow diagrams that can easily show data lineage.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Competent in the skill to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants.
  • Skilled in requirements gathering, gap analysis, and data analysis.
  • Data sourcing, data mapping and managing metadata strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to create data solutions to support business processes.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into data and information deliverables using relevant business intelligence tools.
  • Proven ability to self-manage time and execute fundamental PM skills to execute project leadership to deliver desired outcomes.

The following is required for an Epic BI Developer:
  • Epic Cogito certification (current).
  • Epic Data Model certification - clinical, revenue cycle or patient access (current).
  • 3+ years experience in use of multiple Cogito tools (Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Cogito SQL, Radar).
  • Strong SQL experience.
  • 2+ years Power BI or Tableau data visualization experience.
  • Passionate about data-driven development, reliability, and experimentation.
  • Experience working on a collaborative agile product team.
  • Passionate and curious about data.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and learning skills.
  • Flexibility to changes in work direction with excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills
  • Travel Required based upon client needs.
