Job description

Distribution Sales Manager (DSM) – Job Description Location: Remote (assigned U.S. sales region) Travel: Up to 50% — branch visits, rep meetings, end-user visits, events Role Summary The Distribution Sales Manager (DSM) is a customer‐facing, regionally assigned sales and technical support role focused on enabling revenue growth through electrical interconnect product knowledge, distributor branch engagement, and field sales activity. The DSE partners closely with the Distribution Corporate Account Manager (DCAM), Sales Representatives, Product Management, and Marketing to drive Molex product adoption at the local level.

The ideal candidate blends strong technical understanding of Molex industrial and electrical products with consultative selling skills and the ability to influence distributor branch teams and end users. Key Responsibilities Distributor Branch Engagement & Relationship Building Serve as the primary Molex field contact for distribution branches within the assigned region. Build strong relationships with branch managers, counter teams, inside/outside sales, and regional distribution leadership.

Conduct regular branch reviews, training sessions, product line walkthroughs, and joint sales calls. Ensure local execution of national and corporate distributor agreements. Sales Growth & Pipeline Development Drive regional revenue growth by identifying opportunities across electrical, industrial, and automation applications.

Work closely with sales reps to review opportunity pipelines, prioritize target accounts, and execute growth strategies. Support new product introductions, promotions, and local marketing initiatives. Generate and develop demand at end users, OEMs, panel shops, contractors, and integrators.

Technical Product & Application Expertise Provide Molex product knowledge for electrical connectors, wire management, interconnect systems, and related industrial solutions. Assist distributor and rep partners with product selections, application troubleshooting, and competitive positioning. Support product managers by relaying local market feedback and customer insights.

End-User Facing Support Conduct field visits to end users to identify application needs and create pull-through demand. Perform hands-on product demonstrations and recommend Molex solutions. Capture end-user opportunities in CRM and coordinate handoff to reps or DCAMs as needed.

Sales Administration & Reporting Maintain regular cadence of activity reporting, opportunity management, and CRM updates. Track POS performance, branch-level inventory insights, and identify revenue gaps. Support DCAM and internal teams by providing periodic regional updates, market intelligence, and trend analysis.

Internal Collaboration Partner with DCAMs to ensure alignment with distributor corporate strategies and annual business plans. Work with product management, marketing, operations, and supply chain to address distributor needs. Participate in training programs, team meetings, and cross-functional initiatives to improve the Molex distributor experience.

Qualifications Required Technical understanding of electrical or industrial products (connectors, wire management, control systems, etc.). 3–5+ years in a sales engineering, field sales, distribution, or industrial sales role. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote field environment. Proficiency with CRM and standard sales management tools. Preferred Experience working with electrical/industrial distributors.

Exposure to automation, panel building, or OEM environments. Experience supporting manufacturer reps or distribution networks. Technical degree (engineering or related field) is a plus but not required.

Success Metrics Regional revenue growth and share gain within assigned distributors. Increases in POS, branch engagement activity, and opportunity pipeline health. End-user demand creation and conversion.

Effective execution of corporate distributor programs at the local level. Positive feedback from distributor partners and rep agencies. For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000–$125,000 per year.
