Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Camp Cook to manage the kitchen operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our remote camp. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation, food handling training, and the physical capability to carry up to 45 pounds. Specific duties and qualifications may vary depending on the job classification. Cook rotations are a minimum of 2 weeks on, 1 week off, with rotations being site dependent. Alaskan residency required to be considered.
Qualifications
  • Previous cooking experience (formal culinary training is a plus).
  • Food service or food handling certification/training.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to cleanliness.
  • Physically fit and able to carry supplies up to 45 pounds.

Job Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, including food ordering and tracking camp population.
  • Supervise kitchen staff as necessary (based on job classification).
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, camp facilities, showers, and bathrooms.
  • Order supplies and collaborate with the expeditor to ensure a well-stocked camp.
  • Liaise with the client and work closely with the Camp Manager to ensure smooth operations.

  1. Basic Camp Cook (Entry-Level):
    • Basic meal preparation and kitchen maintenance.
    • Assist with food ordering and inventory management.
  2. Advanced Camp Cook (Mid-Level):
    • Advanced meal preparation and kitchen management.
    • Supervise junior kitchen staff.
    • Manage food inventory and ordering.
    • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained throughout the camp.
  3. Head Camp Cook (Experienced):
    • Oversee all kitchen operations and staff.
    • Plan and execute menus based on camp population needs.
    • Coordinate closely with the Camp Manager and client to meet dietary and operational requirements.
    • Ensure overall camp cleanliness and adherence to health regulations.
