Overview

Position: Day Camp Counselor Location/Dept.: The Salvation Army Kroc Center (SAKC), Philadelphia, PA Availability: Accepting resumes nowSchedule: Seasonal - 8:00AM - 4:45PM (June 15– August 7, 2026) 40 hours, M-F Reporting Relationship: After School and Day Camp Manager/Day Camp CoordinatorSalary and Grade: $15.00 Per hour

Responsibilities

The Day Camp Counselor will implement the daily program activities set forth by the Lead Counselor. They will assist in the supervision of the campers assigned them daily. The Day Camp Counselor will be a positive role model and always maintain a high degree of protective care for each child. The Day Camp Counselor will participate in all programmatic aspects associated with the Day Camp program as assigned. The Day Camp Counselor will perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Counselor, Camp Coordinator or ASPDC Manager.

Qualifications

Requirements: Ability to work and relate well with staff and camper parents. The Day Camp Counselor will assist the Day Camp Coordinator with the day to day operation of the program, supervisechildren of the assigned group. When necessary the counselor may potentially be asked to supervise other groups by After School and Day Camp Manager or Day Camp Coordinator. Actively participate in allcomponents of the Day Camp program, including but not limited to devotional programs, recreational programs, performing arts programs, swim activities (including getting into the pool), counselor choice activities, and other education programming. Promote positive interaction with campers and staff daily. Assume responsibility ofmeeting the needs of the campers throughout the day. Maintain a safe environment by enforcing the policies and procedures and reporting any problems to the Day Camp Coordinator/After School and Day Camp Manager. Respond positively and affirmatively to direction given by the After School and Day Camp Manager and Day Camp Coordinator. Respond to additional assignments/instructions as deemed appropriate for the effective overall ministry of the Summer Day Camp program. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of The Mission of The Salvation Army.
