Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Lateral Partner Recruiting Assistant to support the Lateral Partner Admissions Department, reporting directly to the Director of Lateral Partner Admissions.

The role will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support and assistance to the lateral partner admissions team. The Lateral Partner Recruiting Assistant is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.  

Key responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Regulate and keep correspondence in viRecruit up to date and generate appropriate correspondence from viRecruit and respond to prospective employees as needed.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with viRecruit.
  • File resumes, letters and other recruiting materials as needed, and create and maintain departmental files.
  • Create interview schedules in Word, create calendar appointments and coordinate with attorneys.
  • Enter conflict requests into InTapp and act as the touch point for any questions from the New Business Intake team.
  • Circulate active partner candidate reports to partner recruiting teams and the New Business Intake team.
  • Export evaluations and follow up with attorneys for feedback.
  • Liaise with the HR teams to ensure smooth onboarding of incoming lateral partners.
  • Keep the secure portal up to date and organized.
  • Enter and maintain applicant data in the recruiting database.
  • Help greet applicants upon arrival and escort them to interviews as needed.
  • Assist with applicant travel and hotel arrangements.
  • Process check requests and expense reports.
  • Enter and maintain applicant data in the viRecruit recruiting database.
  • Manage conference room reservations and meeting details for department.
  • Order partner gifts as needed.
  • Assist with recruiting, professional development/training, opportunity and inclusion events as needed.
  • Train temporary interns on recruiting database as needed.
  • Additional tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with database applications (recruiting databases a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner.
  • Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, office and firm management, vendors, and law school personnel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned.

The anticipated base salary for this position in Washington, DC is $60,000.  The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed.  Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.  Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
