Job Summary:

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process to ensure products meet company, regulatory, and customer quality standards.

This role leads in-process and final quality inspection activities, drives adherence to quality procedures, and works cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to identify, contain, and resolve quality issues.

The Quality Control Supervisor serves as a key operational leader in maintaining product consistency, reducing defects, improving first pass yield, and preventing quality escapes to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Quality Oversight

  • Supervise daily quality inspection activities across production stages
  • Ensure all inspection checkpoints are completed accurately and on time

Verify compliance with:

  • SOPs Work instructions
  • Engineering specifications
  • Quality standards
  • Support production teams in maintaining quality expectations throughout the build process

In-Process & Final Inspection Management

Oversee:

  • Incoming inspections
  • In-process inspections
  • Final quality inspections
  • Ensure inspection documentation is completed accurately
  • Validate readiness for stage release and shipment
  • Prevent release of nonconforming products

Defect Identification & Containment

  • Identify and contain quality issues quickly
  • Ensure nonconforming material is:
  • Segregated
  • Tagged
  • Documented properly
  • Participate in DMR and MRB activities
  • Coordinate rework and corrective action activities with Production

First Pass Yield & Quality Metrics

Monitor and report:

  • First Pass Yield (FPY)
  • Defect trends
  • Rework rates
  • Quality escapes
  • Analyze recurring issues and escalate root causes
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and support Quality Inspectors and QC technicians
  • Assign inspection priorities based on production schedule
  • Train team members on: ○ Inspection standards
  • Documentation requirements
  • Quality procedures
  • Reinforce accountability and attention to detail

Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

  • Production Supervisors – quality issues and rework coordination
  • Engineering drawing/specification clarification
  • Supply Chain & Purchasing – supplier-related defects
  • ERP Operations – quality transaction and material status accuracy
  • After-Sales – warranty and field quality feedback

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Support internal audits and quality system compliance activities
  • Maintain organized quality records and inspection documentation
  • Ensure traceability and documentation accuracy

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring defect patterns and process weaknesses
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce defects and rework
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive improvements in inspection efficiency and consistency


Qualifications:

  • 3–7 years manufacturing quality experience
  • 1–3 years supervisory or lead experience
  • Strong understanding of quality inspection processes
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive, RV, aerospace, marine, or specialty manufacturing
  • Experience with ERP and digital quality tracking systems
  • SO 9001 or QMS experience
  • Lean manufacturing exposure
