Job description

Summary:
This individual is responsible for the research, development, writing, submission, tracking, and administration of all grant applications for the Ballad Health Grants Department. The Grant Writer will proactively research and evaluate potential grant opportunities for Ballad Health after developing a clear understanding of the strategic priorities of the system and will engage with senior leaders within the system to review potential funding opportunities and determine if an application should be made. The Grant Writer will further guide corporate or clinical operations teams through the process of grant application development, and if needed, program development, with a keen understanding of both grant and system priorities. The Grant Writer will also help system teams develop budgets, timelines, and evaluation plans. This individual will coordinate, lead, and write competitive grant applications. The Grant Writer is responsible for the identification, pursuit, and recognition of grants and awards. This individual will also be responsible for community relations, outreach, awareness, and will establish and maintain ongoing regional, state, and national relations and outreach strategies to identify and foster funding opportunities for Ballad Health. The Grant Writer will work with both clinical and non-clinical staff across the Ballad Health system to develop and plan potential grant funded ideas, prepare grant applications, proposals, and budgets for timely submission to potential sponsors for funding. Additionally, the Grant Writer will work with physicians, staff, and administrators to provide grant related guidance, support, and information. This position will also require occasional interaction with current or potential funders and funding agencies. The Grant Writer is, or will become, very knowledgeable of Ballad Health programs, services and needs through continual education and outreach to the Ballad Health community. Experience with presenting to groups, directing groups, and coordination of group projects, is required for this position. Knowledge of the health care funding landscape and priorities preferred. Demonstrated experience in grant writing and effective verbal presentation and analytical skills, preferred. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Must be able to use a computer to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data. The ability to use word processing, database, and spreadsheet software is required. Self- motivated with the ability to translate strategy into daily work plans. A collaborative temperament and ability to work closely with team members. Requires a high level of organizational skills and the ability to mentally attend to a significant amount of detail work. Ability to distill complex ideas and information from many sources into coherent, persuasive proposals. Ability to work independently, work under pressure of deadlines, and effectively manage multiple projects. The ability to write, edit, and proofread reports and proposals is required. Valid and active National Grant Professional certification preferred
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree is required. Two years professional writing experience is preferred. Experience in conducting research and/or information gathering to support proposals. Experience with federal grants (i.e. NIH, AHRQ, HRSA, NSF, etc.) preferred.
