Job description

About Base
Base is America's next-generation power company. We're rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization-electricity-by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today's fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role
Base is seeking a highly organized and execution-focused Project Operations Associate Intern to support both the pre- and post-installation stages of our battery deployments. This role offers hands-on experience at the heart of our deployment pipeline - contributing to the day-to-day task execution that keeps projects moving from contract through to completion. Because we're a fast-moving startup, the scope of this role evolves constantly, and we expect this person to adapt quickly, stay attentive to the details, and bring a proactive mindset to everything they do. This role is crucial for maintaining a healthy project pipeline and enabling Base Power's rapid growth.
Beyond execution, the intern will also have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to how we work. Since this person is close to the tools and processes we use daily, we encourage them to spot friction, flag inefficiencies, and bring forward ideas - with proposed solutions.
THIS IS AN HOURLY POSITION. SEE LEFT SIDE FOR DETAILS.
What You'll Do
  • Own timely, detail-oriented execution across the full deployment workflow, from pre-installation through post-installation, tracking project statuses and flagging anything that could cause delays
  • Reviewing photos and documentation submitted by members to assess installation feasibility, configuration requirements, and code compliance
  • Generating permit packages and preparing interconnection agreement submissions
  • Submitting applications and documentation through AHJ and utility portals
  • Reaching out to and following up with members, utilities, and AHJs to move projects forward
  • Managing REP enrollments through the full process, ensuring they are moving through without delays or rejections
  • Closing out permits and ensuring all project records are clean and up to date
  • Identify process and tool improvement opportunities
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies or gaps in our workflows and tooling, and bring proposed solutions to the team

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in project coordination, operations, or a similar role, preferably within the solar, battery, construction, or utility sectors
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear and professional interactions with members and external stakeholders
  • Experience scheduling and coordinating with external stakeholders (e.g., inspectors, utility representatives, AHJs)
  • Proficiency in managing documentation and utilizing online portals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address potential roadblocks
  • Keen attention to detail with a track record of catching errors and ensuring accuracy in high-volume work
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines without losing speed or quality

About the Team
The Deployment Pipeline Operations team is responsible for driving every project from contract through to completion. This team owns the full deployment pipeline - from pre- to post-installation - including site survey review, AHJ permitting, utility interconnection agreements, REP enrollments, and installation scheduling. We turn complex, often inconsistent requirements into a standardized, repeatable process so we can deploy batteries as quickly as possible and scale without sacrificing quality or speed. Success on this team is measured by pipeline health, cycle times, and our ability to move every deal through without anything getting stuck or delayed - directly enabling Base's growth and member experience. Team members are highly detail-oriented, thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and take pride in staying ahead of problems and solving operational challenges that keep the pipeline moving.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone's an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we're creating. We work in-person. It's not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.
