Position Title: Project Manager - Operations
- Waterford, CT
- Monday - Friday
- Up to 40-50% regional travel
The Project Manager works independently and with other staff to ensure the timely and cost effective completion of projects. This position is accountable for results related to on time and on budget completion of projects including scheduling, cost control, and progress monitoring for goal achievement. The Project Manager works with the Regional Project/Maintenance Manager and Sr. Regional Manager, Operational Excellence to prepare comprehensive action plans, for resources such as inventory and equipment, all within project completion timeframes. This role will be responsible for monitoring or updating capital expenditure budgets while notifying Airgas management for new funds should the budget accelerate. The role will coordinate tasks, like schedule and risk management, along with administrative duties, like maintaining project documentation. The Project Manager is required to create piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) using AutoCad and verify process equipment matches the P&ID. The Project Manager is required to prepare all Management of Changes (MOCs) related to the projects and coordinate all of Northeast's MOCs. The Project Manager may also assist with Northeast's Quality program. This includes ISO/ QC audits and will coordinate and assist the operations team with the customer complaint system.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for project management involving the complex installation of Air Gas equipment.
  • Prepare and update P&ID drawings as required.
  • Determines metrics of success for each project.
  • Establishes, monitors, and reports metrics for all project plan milestones as well as budget figures and compliance issues or findings to leadership.
  • Orders inventory and sources vendors for cost
  • Monitors necessary project staff scheduling and overtime levels in order to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Prepares operations and project status reports such as cost tracking.
  • Maintains proper reconciliation of paperwork/electronic files related to all projects.
  • Maintains all data project requests and supporting documentation in a timely manner and within established quality metrics
  • Escalates problems to the necessary leader or project owner
  • Maintains 100% attendance participation at all safety meetings in an attempt to reduce accident frequency ratios.
  • Supports and participates in the Health, Safety and Environmental programs and objectives established by the business entity

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Administrative/Science degree preferred. High school diploma or GED required in lieu of degree with relevant experience required.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years project control/scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's):
  • Ability to read blueprints, project schematics and process flow charts.
  • Knowledge of bulk cryogenic installations.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft MS Office and Google platform products.Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to develop systems to keep projects organized.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to use AutoCad and Intelex.
  • Responsibilities of this position typically require the employee to remain seated or stationary for an extended period of time.
  • Position may occasionally be required to transverse through office and/or manufacturing locations.
  • Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Position requires the ability to use computer, telephone and operate a motor vehicle.
  • Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites throughout the region, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
  • Ability to plan and see project completion 1-6 months in advance or prior to completion date.

The annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $97,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
