Job description

Your New Company

You’ll be joining a fast‑growing organization in the energy conservation and engineering industry, dedicated to delivering high‑impact energy conservation projects across Hamilton and surrounding regions. This is a company that values efficiency, hands‑on execution, and strong collaboration between field teams, internal operations, and leadership. If you enjoy working in a busy, growing environment where innovation meets practical problem‑solving, this is the place for you.

Your New Job

As the Project Manager - Operations, you will take full ownership of leading and supporting a team of project managers, ensuring company wide project execution is on budget and on schedule, guiding projects from kickoff through completion. You’ll manage budgets, coordinate resources, oversee contractors and vendors, and ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.

Your role will include:

  • Leading the end‑to‑end delivery of energy conservation projects
  • Monitoring progress, adjusting plans, and addressing field challenges in real time
  • Managing project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
  • Coordinating field crews, internal teams, contractors, and third‑party vendors
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards
  • Documenting schedules, budgets, and change orders
  • Providing regular updates to clients, stakeholders and leadership
  • Conducting post‑project reviews to identify improvements

This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, operationally focused environment and enjoys juggling multiple moving parts with precision and confidence. There is a clear path for professional growth in this role and this position is perfect for someone who is ambitious, driven and wants to work with a team that is passionate about what they do. The team culture is of great importance to the organization - they pride themselves on fun, down-to-earth culture they have established and have been the recipient of Canada's Best Managed Companies 3 years in a row.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of proven experience managing operational, execution‑driven projects
  • Strong financial skills with hands‑on experience tracking budgets and costs
  • Experience coordinating field operations, contractors, or vendors
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Clear, confident communication skills and comfort managing multiple stakeholders
  • Strong MS Office (Excel) understanding
  • An understanding of mechanical engineering/construction is a strong asset
  • This role is based in office in Hamilton or on-site in surrounding regions so the ability to work in-person 100% is vital.

Key attributes:

  • Strong communication skills and confidence coordinating with stakeholders of varied backgrounds, from on-site technicians through to C-Suite executives
  • Highly detail‑oriented and numbers‑driven
  • Operationally focused and disciplined in execution
  • Adaptable in changing field conditions
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, project-heavy environment
  • Balanced approach to hands‑on problem solving and structured project controls

Preferred assets include:

  • Experience in energy conservation, energy efficiency, utilities, HVAC, or related sectors
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs or retrofit initiatives
  • A PMP or similar certification (an asset, not a requirement)

What Will You Get in Return

You’ll gain a pivotal role in a growing organization where your work directly influences project success, organizational growth and client satisfaction. This is an opportunity to take full operations project management ownership, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to meaningful, measurable results. Your compensation package will include a competitive salary negotiable based upon experience between $100k-$140k + bonus/profit shares, 3 weeks' vacation + personal days, extended health and dental benefits, and a clear path to VP leadership with the organization.
